Normal service will resume tomorrow night, but I'm just in after an excellent 20/20 game in which my team was beaten, but which saw perhaps the best catch I've ever seen in any class of cricket.
We were bolstered tonight by Scots left arm spinner Glenn Rogers, who bowled a typically miserly four overs. To be honest, this guy would have been worth a county shot as he's seldom collared even against County sides and did well against us at the County Ground.
Anyway, he's also a fair batsman and hit 35 in no time at all as we chased 145. Having hit the off spinner for six over mid wicket and another over long on, he hit a flat "screamer" towards long on again. A young West Indian on a scholarship to this country ran 25 yards and threw himself full length to hold the ball inches from the ground with one hand. Fluke? Maybe, but what a fluke. Glenn actually walked off past the guy to congratulate him. Sadly, it cost us the game but I'd be astonished if I ever saw a catch in the same league. Those who might recall James Kirtley's for England a year or two back saw something similar, but not taken by a 15 year old who'd also hammered a breezy 40 with five sixes.
Should have taken his number....
