Both scored centuries in a record partnership for the wicket against that county and the skipper was still at the crease at the end of the day, 159* and with power to add tomorrow.
I didn't see a great deal of it, so perhaps I can claim credit! But both of them are outstanding players, Madsen scoring his 43rd all format ton for the county, while du Plooy took his average for the season past a hundred.
I cannot say more, not having seen it, so I will leave the comments to those of you who did.
Terrific effort though!
Great effort from Wayne and Leus, both were dropped in the slips but never mind! The quality of the batsmen plus a slow pitch plus a kookaburra ball left us well on top. I suspect it won't be easy to bowl Worcestershire out a second time.
ReplyDeleteFor all his short comings as a captain, being made captain this season has taken his batting to a new level of consistency to go with his talent
DeleteYes, it's a shame he's not like every other new captain, especially Kim Barnett, never making any mistakes....🤔
DeleteWhat a pleasure it is to be able to reflect on an excellent day for Derbyshire cricket after so much disappointment this season. A wonderful record breaking partnership between Madsen and du Plooy with hope that the captain will go on to reach a double ton tomorrow. And then hopefully our first Chamionship victory of the season.
ReplyDeleteHad the pleasure of attending the first 2 days . At 38-3 it didn’t look great but the partnership was excellent albeit a mixture of stroke play and later in the day attrition. Need to ensure Leus stays and we build a team around him .
ReplyDeleteDays like this when we dominate with the bat have been rare. Madsen and du Plooy were superb. We need to press on now, get another batting point, and establish a lead of at least 200. I hope du Plooy can reach his double century. It seems rain may play a part in the game.
