He will play for the Welsh Fire side.
I can actually see George becoming a T20 specialist in the next couple of years. It will likely suit him better than long bowls in the four-day game, or even ten-over spells in the Royal London Cup.
Derbyshire have held him back from the four-day cricket this year and wisely so, as an important past of the T20 game plan. He has done well for us, and I wish him well in his efforts in Cardiff.
I too wish him well even if we'll miss him. My take is that his involvement might do us as much good as the negatives of missing him in terms of making us an attractive place to play.
ReplyDeleteI assume the counties are completely powerless to stop their contracted players going off to play in this nonsense Tom Harrison has a lot to answer for,how is a small county like Derbyshire able to compete in the 50 over with three of it's key players missing?
ReplyDeleteDo Derbyshire and other counties save on wages? It may not be great sum of money we talking.
