Not much today

I've been watching England cuff Croatia tonight, which is more than their cricketing counterparts have been doing to the Aussies...

Cameron White has confirmed what a fine player he is and Callum Ferguson looks like a player with a big future to me. Well organised, nothing fancy, an accumulator of runs rather than a fancy dan, I can see him being a really good player in another couple of years. He's also at the age where there'll be county offers coming in and when he would benefit from it.

The Aussie run chase has been exemplary tonight. No panic when the fours weren't coming and Michael Clarke only hit one in his entire innings, yet they're winning in a canter. That's how to play it and I hope our young players have watched and learned.

Good piece in the DET today about John Sadler. He had a rough time last year with a botched house move and nasal operations, which understandably took his mind off things. I rate Sads and hope that he gets an opportunity next year. He's a good guy, a decent cricketer and a committed bloke. A good county professional in short and a good man to have on our side.

Nice to see Michael di Venuto score a double ton today, especially against Notts. It highlighted the poor decision of Dave Houghton in letting him go and our loss has been Durham's gain.

Finally tonight, John Morris will be pleased to see that the large vote this week sees him as being very much on the right track with Derbyshire, with well over 80% voting positively.

This week's poll is straightforward again. Kabir Ali - should we make serious overtures to sign him, or is he too unfit and overweight (according to some) for Derbyshire? And what about Will Jefferson at Notts? Worthwhile or no?

I look forward to your results. Thanks for all your comments in the past week
