County record large profit for 2021

Time prevented me commenting on this earlier in the week, but I wanted to acknowledge the efforts of those involved in registering a profit of £1.15 million in 2021. This was despite losing an estimated £1.5 million of their conventional revenue streams.

This was the club's third straight profit and we remain on course to be debt-free by 2024.

Fabulous work!

Well done to all involved.

  1. Fabulous perhaps, but I'd rather see profit invested in the club, particularly when the team has been so uncompetitive, and profits have been realised over a number of years. As it stands we will be debt free by 2024 but have an uncompetitive team and an academy that hasn't produced England players for years. Hopefully things will change but we have thought that before most seasons! And Mickey Arthur cannot be here forever.

I said invest in the club, not just the team. Here is what I think is an interesting article on what Middlesex have been doing to engage all communities in the club and the team: https://www.thecricketer.com/Topics/features/actions,_not_words_how_middlesex_working_improve_inclusivity_ankit_shah_interview.html

    1. I think this sort of view is very shortsighted. Being on track to be debt free is a massive, massive achievement.

No doubt those profits will be invested back into the club but servicing debt has to be a priority.

It's a slippery slope and success on the field should never be put above of the club's survival. They way disaster lies.

    2. Afternoon Peakfan. First of all thank you for an excellent interview with Mickey Arthur. Well done. That is great news about the profit made for 2021. This is another major achievement for Ian Morgan and the Executive Team. This follows their magnificent signing of Mickey Arthur and our two international players. I believe they are laying the foundations of an exciting period for Derbyshire CCC. Looking forward to the first game at Lords. Best wishes. Clay Cross Mark
