Midweek musings

Sorry about the lack of blogging in the early part of this week, but its been a busy few days on the domestic, social and work front.

Warm congratulations to all prize-winners in the annual club awards. They were all pretty much as expected, with the main award-winner, Wayne Madsen, ensuring that my cricket kit remained intact for another season's use...

It is pretty quiet on the cricket front otherwise. Phil Jaques has parted company with Yorkshire and headed back to Australia, David Sales has been offered a new deal at Northamptonshire and Graham Napier has signed one at Essex. There have been a few players released around the country, but no one of particular merit as far as Derbyshire are concerned.

A big round of applause too for Harvey Hosein, a 17-year old wicket-keeper batsman of considerable promise, who has been called up for the England Development Programme. It is further evidence of the talent coming through the academy and the youngster's progress is something to keep an eye on.

I'll be back tomorrow, with news of the blog plans for the winter ahead.
