Big match

If you think the county season at home finishes on Saturday and are upset at the prospect, I'd highly recommend a one day extension.

On Sunday at Chesterfield the final of the Premier Cup takes place and promises to be a fantastic game between the Derbyshire CCC Academy and Ockbrook and Borrowash. The game starts at noon and is the final game for the current side, which has had an extraordinary season.

With Matt Lineker, Kevin Dean and Jake Needham likely to play for Ockbrook and Borrowash there is plenty of county interest, but the Academy side is potentially fascinating. Ben Slater, Hamza Siddique, Greg Cork and Harry White - brother of Wayne - could all appear, as could Tom Knight and Peter Burgoyne, although I am unaware of their eligibility at this stage, registered as they are to Swarkestone and Denby respectively.

I hope that the day is blessed with good weather and I'm considering a run down to see a bunch of lads who could have a major part to play in our club's future. Much will depend on that weather forecast  but this should be an excellent game.

It deserves a large crowd and I hope that as many of you as possible get along there. If I find out further news about the squads I will post them in advance of the match.

To quote Frank Carson, "it's a cracker"...
