You can correct me if my memory is playing tricks PF but I seem to remember that back in 1986 we had a one innings bash in a Championship match against Somerset after the other days had been rained off. It was in Taunton, right at the end of the season and the Somerset team contained for the last time, Botham, Richards and Garner. But we won thanks to a decisive knock from Alan "Bud" Hill. I think also that it was his last game before retirement. Happy days!
You are partially correct, CG though none of the Somerset trio played. Mortensen took 3 wkts in their 182 all out, we made 184-7, with Bud Hill making 45 and Bernie Maher 49
Bernie Maher - now that's a blast from the past. I recall checking Derbys' fortunes on Ceefax/Teletext many years ago and Maher had a run of low scores that never seemed to end. Dave
