Seconds lose thriller at Quarndon

Thanks to John for alerting me to the fact that the second team had an excellent friendly against Zimbabwe A today at Quarndon.

Batting first in the 50 over game, Derbyshire were all out for 273. Anuj Dal made 64, Joe Hall 40, Sam Cliffe 36 and Ajay Khunti 30.

Zimbabwe won by three wickets with an over to spare, with Matt Stewart (2-38) and Nick Potts (2-72) the best bowlers.

Sounds like a cracking game!

  1. Joe Hall batted superbly. A serious finisher hitting some clean balls. Matt Stewart also bowled very well once again, in his second spell. Both look true talents and players to watch out for. A great day at Quarndon

    2. He bowled well in his opening spell and took 2 wickets - one from the first ball of the innings- He bowed with high pace but lacked control at times.
Seems like some of the academy seamers are now good enough to take his place unless he performs much better in the rest of this season and next season
