Anuj Dal also returns to the squad after his half century against Zimbabwe A, as Derbyshire go with the following squad:
Jewell, Came, Montgomery, Guest, Basra, Whiteley, Dal, Andersson, Aitchison, Chappell, Haydon, Potts, Morley
There's no news on the Leicestershire side as I write - they have been too busy announcing new signings for 2026 - but will include Peter Handscomb and Shan Masood as their two overseas players.
Last time out they went with the following eleven but were well-beaten by Essex
Holland, Budinger, Hill, Masood, Handscomb, Cox, Scriven, Mike, Walker, Wood, Wright
A win tomorrow would keep alive Derbyshire's hopes of qualification, while defeat would pretty much end their interest in the competition.
Will Mickey Arthur be there? I understand that he wasn't at Neath or Repton, as the Northern Superchargers had fixtures on those dates. They have another one tomorrow.
So will he be at Leicester or Lord's? That might be a test of his loyalties...
I think that Derbyshire can win the game tomorrow, as long as the batting doesn't fall apart like a house of cards, as it did at Repton.
We will see soon enough.
I see that Lancs have got Tom Aspinall back from The Hundred. I assume we aren't going down that road and want to see what Basra and Haydon can do. Kris
ReplyDeleteAs much as I like Harry Came, Id rather see Nye Donald opening the batting in white ball cricket if it was possible.

ReplyDeleteI personally would open Anderson and Jewell. Then put Dal to add depth both batting and bowling . I think Harry Came a brilliant red ball player but not white ball from what I have seen.
Is there any value for MA involvement in Northern supercharger? I personally think there is value. It could be negotiation tool for the club and pathway for players in Derbyshire set up. Would I trade that for him not being present. I think I would personally as it develops other coaches at the club.
I still think clear communication is needed by clubs media team. This because article written by David Griffin on club website clearly quotes it wouldn’t affect any involvement when Derbyshire playing when asked the question. My concern is the knives are sharpening on Micky. It sounds like it’s a source who very close to club that fuelling it. I don’t believe anything positive will come from it. I hope either Mickey or Ryan Ducket can clear this up and put to bed.
Yes and which Hundred team does he play for ? Either we don’t want our players back or they are not being released back to us. Easy for the Manchester Originals to arrange this with Lancashire or am I being a bit to cynical 🤨

Just watching the 100 while I wait for the football to start given the number of coaches and consultants the rockets appear to have there must be plenty of money swilling around
ReplyDeleteI personally think it’s a very important match tomorrow. Obviously the result first and foremost and if we lose tamely it’s yet another competition we will be also rans in and seemingly accepting that quite meekly but a good performance still gives us the chance of qualifying. And obviously Mickey Arthur if he’s not at this game as well as missing the other 2 or 3 can in no way claim Derbyshire is his first priority
ReplyDeleteReally disappointing to see Basra not in the final 11 (assuming he is not injured)) We started at Cheltenham with 4 debutants, 3 of whom were young lads of that 3 only 1 gets to play today.
ReplyDeleteJohn Flint
He was announced as the team was as 'missing through illness' John
DeleteDisappointed to see Basra left out, why MA why?
ReplyDeleteMissing through illness, CB. Nothing sinister...
DeleteAn answer to the Mickey Arthur question there’s no sign of him here at Leicester today…
ReplyDeleteIf that's the case, Elliott (and thank you) he can no longer claim, nor can the club, that we are his number one priority. Certainly not in my opinion
DeleteNot a great start again today. Have not missed a 50 over game home or away for a few years but couldn't motivate myself to go today. Last year we had the memorable win at Somerset and a wide margin defeat at Hampshire but i felt the competition was worth following as 50 over cricket is my favourite form of the game. This year enjoyed my day out at Cheltenham and the win at Derby but we now seem to have no leadership, no ability to accelerate, really poor fielding and mainly the same bowlers who have failed us time and time again that cant restrict teams to under 300. As a life member i am 80% likely to miss the remainder of the season as i literally cant be arsed to travel to the South of the County for all 4 home games. I think Members in the North get a really poor deal with the current Board Think. Sure they will class Repton as a success I thought the facilities were awful the members area was impossible to see from if you weren't on the front 2 rows and why should Chesterfield members have to go to Southern Derbyshire for all 4 games. Queens Park should have got a game IMO. Anyway rant over. We need a massive clearout for 2026 but dont expect we will get one
ReplyDeleteBasra is obviously a quick healer as he was fielding as 12th man early in the game. Something amiss ? Maybe. Maybe not.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that, Simon. But there were quite a few going on and off. Don't know if there's a bug in the team, but with Potts replacing Haydon and only a squad of 13 there, if someone needed the loo, needs must!
ReplyDeleteI think you're probably right Steve. They stopped for a drinks break and six Derbyshire players raced off the field
DeleteI have just got back from Leicester. As it happens an old team mate is the steward to the players entrance. I took the opportunity to chat with him and asked him if Micky Arthur was here. He confirmed with 100% certainty that he WAS NOT.
