Derbyshire v Surrey preview

Pat Brown, Yusuf Bin Naeem and Joe Hawkins are added to the thirteen that played at Leicester for tomorrow's game at the Central Co-op County Ground against a heavily depleted Surrey side.

I couldn't call a side for the fixture, but it would be good to see youth given an opportunity within the final eleven.

Ben Foakes and Rory Burns are the experienced heads in a Surrey squad that otherwise lacks it. I have watched a couple of their games and left-handed middle order bat Ollie Sykes looks a player of potential. He made a dazzling 90-odd against Gloucestershire, before being suckered out by Graeme van Buuren.

Their squad:

Foakes, Burns, Albert, Barnwell, Blake, Gorantla, Griffiths, Hunt, Karvelas, Majid, Sykes, Taylor, Thomas

Ari Karvelas has been signed on loan from Sussex for the remainder of the competition.

It is a game that Derbyshire should win, with a good weather forecast

I will be back tomorrow. Tonight my wife and I head into Glasgow to see Cabaret at the theatre

I will publish all comments later tonight or early tomorrow.

Have a good one!

  1. I know it's our team but I had to laugh at poor Zak Chappells attempt to win the match for us yeterday.Tripping over your own bat and flying through the air like that it was one of those what happened next moments!Unlucky Zak but great effort!Topspinner.

  2. If Montgomery is fit to bowl, bring in Basra for Morley the only change for me. Grant from Telford

It will be interesting to see if Surrey pick Nathan barnwell the poor bloke has been absolutely hammered the last two games but looks quite a decent whole hearted bowler. Hope you and your wife enjoy the theatre

  4. Just seen the playing xi. Good that Potts and Hawkins are getting a chance and that Basra is fit again. Not so sure about Brown on performance to date this season but here's hoping for a good win.

    Allez Derbyshire

  6. Pat Brown has to be released
    10 over 0 for 114,
is just the latest in a long line of embarrassing bowling performances from him. Guest looks clueless as captain too

Brown's figures against Surrey 3/4 XI are embarrassing. I feel sorry for the lad as whatever he did have before has seemingly left him entirely and shows no signs of returning. Don't expect to see him in a Derbyshire side again.
