That meant that all fourteen on the bus to Durham last week have to self-isolate and with six others currently injured we couldn't field a side 'that would have maintained the integrity of the competition'.
Realistically, any such side would have had to be from the Academy and the local leagues and would have been a total mis-match.
The points will be divided on an 'average points per completed match' basis.
Meanwhile, the ECB has announced that the Essex County Championship game has been declared a draw, each side taking eight points plus the bonus points accrued from the game. Derbyshire thus take nine, Essex eleven.
No blame can be apportioned to the club for this. They have obviously followed the protocols but someone has still fallen ill.
Best wishes go to the player concerned for a speedy recovery. Fingers crossed that no one else in the squad or travelling party is affected.

DeleteBilly Gilmour tested positive for Scotland after the England game the rest of the Scotland team didn’t have to isolate only Mount and Chillwell who had been in close proximity (within two metres for more than 15 minutes) were asked to self isolate as a precaution after testing negative but nobody else from either team had to isolate, according to Derbyshire’s statement one person from the playing staff has tested positive,why is rest of the squad having to isolate? hence my original question what’s the difference?
ReplyDeleteSorry Ranger. I don't know the full details of the Gilmour case, but that was an outdoor environment. I would guess that the difference is that the Derbyshire players and staff were on a coach together, cwith a greater likelihood of transmission in a lengthy bus journey to and from Chester le Street.

DeleteHowever, Ranger is right in pointing out the crazy notion that Scotland's players were not deemed to be "close contacts" of Gilmour's whereas Mount and Chilwell were....Presumably Gilmour must be " Billy no mates" in and around Scotland's changing room!!
Not wanting to get into a protracted discussion about this but the England team traveled to and from Wembley on a coach together. This season has been a complete train crash for Derbyshire and if some of the players answered honestly would probably be quite happy to cancel the rest of the season right now
ReplyDeleteIt does seem like some of this stuff is made up fantasy. Those Scotland players travelled down together, ate together, and spent an hour plus in the changing rooms plus an hour together afterwards in a crowded changing room. I think we stopped following the science a long time ago. Shame as would have liked to make a judgment on our T20 campaign with a full card of matches completed.
