I don't know whether we misjudged the wicket this morning or just batted badly. Credit has to be given to the bowlers of course, but that was a shocker by Derbyshire today.
There's nothing more you can say really. While it was good to see Dan Redfern return to form with a plucky and skilful 85, there's nothing positive to say about the rest of the batting, bar for the solid, professional support given to Redfern by Tim Groenewald.
When the bowling highlight is then Greg Smith bowling Greg Smith, you know you have problems. Unless something extraordinary happens tomorrow and Thursday, we're going to be beaten by a very average side with some time to spare.
Disappointing doesn't even come close.
Cant believe what a poor batsmen, goddard has been and his glove-work hasnt been that good either. surely hes not going to get another contraCT.
ReplyDeleteMight be worth a look at what Tim Ambrose is doing as he seems to have had his nose pushed out at Warwickshire. Good to see Redfearn do well although I heard a rumour that he might not be too happy and seek a move away.
ReplyDeleteDCCCFOREVER
Not a chance of Redfern going as he's contracted till 2012. Given his form couldn't get him a game here this year, I can't see how moving would do him any favours.
ReplyDeleteAs for keepers, I'd agree Goddard has disappointed but would be surprised if Warwickshire let Ambrose go. If Goddard was to be released, I think that Morris would watch the situations of O'Brien at Northants or Gareth Cross or Luke Sutton at Lancashire. Neither of the latter two are happy at being part timers and both would be an asset. Not sure how good a keeper O'Brien is, but he can hit a ball.
