So it's official. Chris Rogers will leave Derbyshire at the end of the season to become overseas player for Middlesex.
Besides upsetting a lot of fans at Edgbaston, who were convinced he was joining them next year, it is a move that will understandably excite Middlesex fans, as well as the player. He will undoubtedly have received a lucrative offer and the chance of playing at Lords on a regular basis must have been a huge factor.
More later, but the conjecture as to his replacement will probably start now...
How are Middlesex going to get around the visa regualtions? I thought Rogers would be ineligable to play in 2011?
ReplyDeleteHave the rules changed again?
at 19-7 ive never been so embarrassed to be a derbyshire fan in all my life.
ReplyDeleteWas going to go up to bristol on friday, but i think its totally out of the queston now.
ReplyDeletemr robin hood.
Wonder if Michael Devenito might be a suitable replacement for Rogers? Now that Michael is a English qualified player it may mean that we could get and overseas fast bowler, maybee an Aussie like Peter Siddle.
ReplyDeleteI would suggest that as Derbyshire have not offered Adshead a contract then Sutton could be on his way to us. Also, as a replacement for Peterson what about Schofield with Needham getting more of a look in.
DCCCFOREVER

Signing Sutton would be a backward step in my opinion. Much rather have Niall O'Brien, quality player. If not him then Tim Ambrose. Wouldn't want Schofield either to be honest!
ReplyDeletep.s. think we might need a batter peakfan. A new low
