It was also nice to see how Hampshire did not pick Peiterson after he had made it clear he wanted to leave them. If Graham Wagg has made it clear that he wants to leave Derbyshire then we should not be thinking of picking him either. DCCCFOREVER
Pietersen wanted to go for totally different to Wagg, wait and see how much we will miss him. Amott should put his hand in his pocket and do something instead of just talking
We have missed Wagg but if Mr. Amott gives Wagg lots more money then he will have to give the other players more. And can we afford to give a massive contract to a player who has only played twice all season? DCCCFOREVER
So? I Would rather have Cork here than Animal. Say what you like about him but he was and is still a fine player and is a winner - exactly the kind of character that could have dragged this shower up.
Here's another thought Peakfan and the other guys who's posts I usually read on here with interest. I am 24 and have been following the club since the mid 90's. If I were to put together my 'all-time' Derbyshire team from the past 15 years or so it would look something like this, give or take one or two omissions (including 1 overseas player):
Two questions - how on earth did we used to be able to afford and attract international players such as DeFreitas and Malcolm, and where did it all start to change for the worse?!
I can think of a couple of overseas ahead of buck ill pick, plus i rather have jamie pipe rather than krikken and langers ahead of a old defreitas anytime.
Ok - as I said, give or take one or two omissions but the core of that team still stands. I didnt include Langeveldt (I know he didn't come to us an 'overseas' player but to all intents and purposes he was.
When he left Lancashire I said we should have gone back in for him - Corky was wasted here sadly.
ReplyDeleteand ruin the dressing room? I cant imagine him and animal getting on
