Seconds fight back

Derbyshire second eleven fought back well on day three of the four-day fixture at Repton against Northamptonshire.

After being 252-2 overnight, the visitors were all out for 332, with three wickets each for Matt Stewart, Jake Green and Joe Hawkins. Stewart did especially well to turn his overnight figures of 0-43 in six overs to 3-49 in nine, but it was good to see the fight in a young side.

It left Derbyshire needing 368 to win and plenty of time in which to do so. Sadly, rain intervened after only thirteen overs of their reply and play ended for the day in early afternoon, with the score on 42-1, with Wagstaff and Khushi at the crease.

326 to win tomorrow, which may become academic with the weather forecast.

But this has been a good test for a young Derbyshire eleven.
