Mickey Arthur interview

I am delighted to announce that Derbyshire's new Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur has kindly agreed to an interview with me.

I hope to do it in the next two or three weeks and publish it before the season starts.

I already have a lot of questions prepared, but if you have anything you would like me to ask, please either pop it into the comments or email me at the usual address - peakfan36@yahoo.co.uk

I am SO looking forward to this!

  1. The obvious one Peakfan, will there be further strengthening of the squad before the season gets underway? Well done for getting an interview. Cheers Mark

  2. Guessing it might already be in your prepared questions but I'd like to know about what his targets and priorities are for the season. What does he realisitically think would constitute a successful season?

  3. Might already be in your list of questions, but I'll add it here anyway...
I'd be interested to know what are his targets and priorities for year one. What does he think would constitute a successful season?
Also hypothetically, does he think it would be possible for a DCCC player to be selected to represent England? Or does he concede that players with international aspirations would have to leave for a bigger name county?

  4. Derbyshire has not had a player debut for England while playing for them since Dominic Cork in 1992: 30 years ago. Does he agree that the club should field an academy team in the Derbyshire Premier League like other counties do?

  5. Now that we don't have Matt Critchley, what are Mickey's thoughts regarding 'spinner' options?

  6. Who are the captains going to be, across the formats? For me, it's Reece in 4 day and Hughes in the T20 and 50 overs. Kris

    1. Got that, Kris.. Yes, both very good options IF they want the role. I do think we are due a change, but maybe Billy will thrive under a positive coach
