Luke Sutton signs for Derbyshire

Terrific news for all Derbyshire fans this morning!

Luke Sutton has re-signed for the county, saying that we are "the last club he will play for."

A few people have said that over the years and meant something else entirely, but I'm sure that there will be a lot of people, like me, very pleased to hear that this morning.

More later, but for now - enjoy your day!

  1. I think that Luke Sutton will be a useful signing for us. A steady keeper who is good enough to bat in the top six. Also, his experience will be vital to the team. Well done John!

  2. Can't understand why everyone is so overjoyed at re-signing Sutton.

He made the decision five years ago to fulfill his ambitions at Lancashire, giving them his peak years and here we go now giving him a passage into retirement with a cosy 2 or 3 years to wind his career down. I maintain that O'Brien and even Ambrose would have been better signings, certainly with the bat - and likely to be availabe for relatively reasonable wages bearing in mind there aren't too many counties after a first-choice keeper.

Oh well, best of luck to Sutton though as he seems to be a decent guy and will hopefully be a useful player for us still.

  3. Predictable move. Overall, I tend to go along with Dave C on this one.

Happy enough that Luke is back, but maybe more runs could have been had elsewhere. Good gloveman though.

  4. He can't bat in limited overs cricket. Pointless signing when there better batsmen-wicketkeepers out there.
