Replying to the visitors total of 279, Derbyshire were all out for 141, with Niall McHale making 34 and Feroze Khushi 32. Shaariq Sheikh took 5-10 with his well-flighted leg spin, before SACA were themselves bowled out for 167. Sheikh top-scored with 48, while Ajay Khunti made 43, leaving Derbyshire 306, the highest score of the game, to win.
Matt Stewart took 4-46, while there were two wickets each for Will Rogers and Joe Hawkins.
At the close, Derbyshire had reached 59-3, with Wagstaff unbeaten on 30.
247 more to win seems a big ask for a young batting line up.

Wayne Madsen was very close to being back to his best today.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he has recently been out of form. Nearly every other player goes through a run like this, so perhaps this was simply the case with him.
In your previous blogs, you have alluded to him playing next season. Is there any news concerning an extension to his contract? I think this would provide a lift after a disappointing season.
I agree about the commentators. They were excellent.
Dre.
Nothing definite as yet, Dre, but I think he has another summer in him in red ball cricket. He only announced his retirement from white ball
