It is huge opportunity for him to showcase his talent. If he can show his best form down under, the opportunities for him in franchise cricket could quite easily change his life.
I really hope that he gets the opportunity and is able to show his best form.
Like all of you, I wish him well.
Equally good news came yesterday with the confirmation that Shoaib Bashir has another one-year central England contract.
It represents a considerable saving for Derbyshire in their budget, which can be redeployed in whatever way they feel appropriate.
Excellent news to start the week!
Good news. How about Reece and Donald as an opening pairing in the Championship next season? Have you heard any whispers as to who we might be looking to bring in? An all-rounder to come in at 6 might be useful. Grant from Telford
ReplyDeleteGiven that Nye Donald now seems to 1st reserve Opener for England T20, I was a little surprised he didnt get a central contract, especially given that the ECB have expanded the number of contracts on offer. Still allez Nye and hope all goes well for him
ReplyDeleteI assume we might soon be hearing of players' contracts being extended, as many only run till 2027. Dre.
ReplyDeleteI think they will hold fire on a few of those, Dre. Some of them need strong and fit 2027 seasons to hold on to deals. And there are a number of very good players out of contract around the country next year...
DeleteFor those who may be interested, there is an interview with Ryan Duckett on YouTube. Dre
ReplyDeleteWith Buttler injured Donald should get another decent opportunity to showcase his skills. Let's hope he takes it. Good luck to him.
ReplyDeleteAs for him opening for us in red ball next year, new red Dukes, no power play restrictions, bit of early seam and swing, 3 or 4 slips and a gully, what could possibly go wrong....
Donald should be batting 6 in red ball and Reece opening, in my opinion. I think the status quo needs shaking up next season, as the batting has been inconsistent. I would also like to see Basra at 3. Kris
