Fingers crossed for the seconds as they play Surrey in the semi-final of the Second XI trophy at Queens Park tomorrow.
Their squad:
Rahib Ali
Ryan Bramwell
Greg Cork
Will Davis
Scott Elstone
Rob Hemmings
Tom Knight
Tom Milnes
Tom Poynton
George Sellers
Tom Taylor
Harry White
There is some good young talent in that side, so here's hoping that Surrey field a side of similar youth and don't stack a side with Solanki, Batty and others...
Good luck lads!
At least Solanki has been a regular 2's player for Surrey. How is it OK to play Durston!??!! And as Captain...
ReplyDeleteHe isn't in the firsts..simple. Why not pick a senior skipper? Who wouldn't do that?
ReplyDeleteBut why not in the original squad then?
ReplyDeleteBecause he has been injured
ReplyDeleteHaving helped to start this particular hare running, I can't see why Durston playing and captaining is any more reprehensible in itself than it is for a player of similar vintage and experience like Solanki. I'm not sure that injury was the issue, though - he played on Monday and Tuesday and was presumably passed fit before being named for the first team on Thursday. I'd assumed that he was left out on form grounds - if you take out his 80 odd back in April, his figures in 4 day cricket aren't much better than Dilshan's. Whatever, as long as he was left out of the four day side for a legitimate reason rather than just to strengthen the seconds, I don't see the problem.
