I still don't see us signing another player for the T20, but...
If I was signing a player on the back of the IPL and omitting the bigger names on ground of cost and the Indians because they'll be here soon, I'd go for one of two players, assuming they'd come.
Shaun Marsh - average 42 or James Hopes - average 39 and steady overs with the ball.
That's my thoughts, but don't hold your breath on it guys...
Both Marsh and Hopes would be OK as would Robin Peterson. Anybody who saw Robin last season and at the recent World Cup would know that he is a very good one day cricketer. He would also provide us with experience.
ReplyDeleteLast Year when we did fairly well in the 20/20 we had a number of international players in the changing room in Peterson, Langeveldt, Bosman and Rogers. At the start of this season the only man in our changing rooms with international experience was John Morris and the captain didn't like him!
Whether we sign a replacement or not for Khwaja in the 20/20 will be a statement of the club's ambition or lack of it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Robbo wouldn't be a bad option, but again, the money situation could be key...
ReplyDeleteThey will not be a replacement, so build your hopes up boys.
ReplyDeleteThink I've been saying that matey...
ReplyDeleteIt's odd that Shaun Marsh never appears over here. He's a very good T20 player - I'd rate him better than that showpony Warner - and the Aussies don't seem to want him, but no-one ever gets him over for the T20 season in England.
ReplyDeleteHi Peakfan
ReplyDeleteHere two names that would not break the the bank, Shakib Al Hasan or Tamim Iqbal.
Yes, its a puzzler and I agree, a far better player than Warner, who was very disappointing for Middlesex last year
ReplyDeleteI think Al Hasan is at Worcester for the 20/20
ReplyDeleteI forget Shakib Al Hasan was at Worcestershire but Tamim Iqbal is still not bad option.
