Quick, fun question

Thought I would get you all to don your thinking caps, while we await the next game.

You are head of cricket at Derbyshire. Which two players from other counties would you bring to the club to improve our fortunes?

Keep in mind central contracts, because you would hardly ever see those who are on them. You are not allowed an overseas player as one of them.

I look forward to seeing your answers and I will give you my duo after the weekend.

  1. First choice would be bringing Matt Critchley back. What a player he has become.

With the middle order and spinner solved with one player ill go for an opening batsman and take Rishi Patel, who's already a good player but I think his best years are ahead of him.

  3. Easy. Alex Lees from Durham and a bloke called Du Plooy from Middlesex.

  4. I think this period of the season highlights the mess of the schedule. So many days where no Cricket is played.

Back to your question I would go for Matt Critchley and David Willey for my 2 choices. If he was a few years younger Steven Croft would have been a contender and James Vince was also a near-miss.

  5. Tom Abell and Will Jacks

  6. Joe Clarke (he can get the Red Arrow) and Ali Orr.

  7. Hello David Bruce. Been pondering this for ages. I tried not to, but the seed had been planted. In fairness, it's much more fun than watching politicians. Anyway, three hours of thought resulted in exactly the same duo you came up with!
I'll go with great minds and all that....

  8. Ryan Higgins at Middlesex is always consistent…teammate Josh de Caries (Atherton) is an interesting one, batsman/leggie being used more for his bowling could be a Critchley….otherwise Sean Dickson from Somerset would be some good experience at the top of the order

  12. Bearing in mind that the county and international red-ball seasons don't seem to overlap very much these days...

    Shoaib Bashir and Dillon Pennington.

  13. Well, we desperately need an experienced wicket taking seamer who’s always fit, takes wickets on flat tracks and be available for a whole season. The one I’d go for is James Harris from Glamorgan. Nearly 600 first class wickets and very handy lower order runs - always been impressed when he’s played against us. I also think that Dom Bess would be a good signing.
