Duckett and Hameed added an unbroken 393 for the second wicket, but only the real partisan supporter would get much from a day when the bat dominates the ball so much.
Fair play to the two of them and to Nottinghamshire, but such 'roads' do nothing for me.
So over to you. Were there opportunities, or did they grind us into the dust?
I made it down for the first two hours and had to leave it at that because it was too hot to be enjoyable as a spectator never mind running in all day in that heat!
ReplyDeleteAitchison put down Duckett in the slips on around 20 I think, but other than that pretty chanceless from what I saw. Tough day
Let's see how we fare when batting then, I can guarantee we'll make it look like hard work. Very poor effort to take just one wicket today regardless of how good the batting track is
ReplyDeleteAlways very difficult to bat and concentrate when you have been in the field for the best part of two days, which looks like what it will be. Running in and bowling fast must have been a trial today too.
DeleteCan’t really complain as I can’t see anyone doing much better in 40+ degree heat for the majority of the day against two international batsmen. Can only think Thompson is injured as he’s been good lately and you’d need your best spinner in that weather to try and tie an end up. Hopefully we bat well when we finally get a bat!
ReplyDeleteThink Thommo has split the webbing on a hand, but should be back soon, all being well
DeleteBad toss to lose and it can't have been much fun out there in these temperatures. I didn't watch any so can't comment on the bowing other than to suggest it probably wasn't as good as we'd like!
ReplyDeleteNotts made it look easy. The test will come when we bat.
ReplyDeleteIt was somehow inevitable that with a pitch tailor made for batting all day and under a blistering sun we would lose the toss and be chasing the ball from start to finish. From our point of view, what the day showed was our chronic need for an experienced, quality bowler or two. Our present attack has so often this season has had difficulty bowling sides out once, never mind twice. A very heavy defeat is now surely on the cards.
ReplyDeleteI was under the impression that Hilton Cartwright was an all rounder 50 wks @33 he didn't bowl in this match is he injured?
ReplyDeleteI can only assume he has a niggle. I thought he would have bowled at Durham but he hasn't turned his arm over yet.
DeleteWhat a bore of a game this is turning in to
