  1. What’s happened to George Scrimshaw?is he injured or has he left the club? Another shambolic end to a game for Derbyshire the club had announced that Connors wouldn’t take any further part in the match it was then a surprise to everyone including the ground staff when ha walked out to bat with a runner

    1. My understanding is that he rejected an offer from Derbyshire and is to sign a deal elsewhere.

His prerogative, though loyalty for giving him a chance back in the game would have been good..

    2. Absolutely. If he's not playing because he knows he's off elsewhere, zero loyalty, although I do wonder if it's a case of us not picking him because we know he's off but you would have thought/hoped he would be keen to play providing he is fit.

  2. A glance at the scores does make one wonder if the two teams were batting on the same pitch....??

  3. All credit to Connors for coming out and also for applying himself at the crease. And Dal and Aitchison both put in a shift. I'm delighted by Dal's form with both bat and ball since his role in the team was made clear.

Yet, once again, our top order failed miserably. Between them, our top six made just 73 runs in the first innings and 78 in the second. Of course, these kind of stats will occur in every team in a season, but with us it's happened regularly. So many batsmen have failed so often. It reached the point some time ago when a collapse was inevitable.

I'd thought that perhaps Division Three would bring about a reset. I'd thought the same about the Royal London. I was wrong.

The new coach will have a huge job on his hands.

  4. I imagine Conners came out so Dal could at least continue his innings and help him reach 50 plus, which is fair enough. At least it helps bolster Dal's confidence. He's one of the few to come out of the last couple of games with any credit.

    1. Totally pointless, I take your point regarding Dal wanting his 50, it’s very difficult at the moment to decide which team in Derby is currently the biggest shambles

  5. What an utter shambles. Thank goodness Dal has found some form or the outcome would have been even more embarrassing. Surely Kent can hardly believe how easily they won. Perhaps it's time we joined the Minor Counties!

  6. It's an absolute shambles Ranger, the comedy county. We should be competing with the minor counties that's all most of this current squad is good for. Sick to death of it tbqh and I have zero confidence about the new managerial appointment being a good one

  7. The batting was absolutely woeful again but it was hardly a surprise. A day lost yet still beaten easily. At least Dal, Aitchison and Conners showed some balls down the order. The new coach has got a mammoth job on his hands.

  8. Our top order has been a shambles. The fact that the lower order in the last few games have looked to show more resolve and basically looked better players is hard to fathom. I appreciate the new ball moves around but some of the shots played is nothing to do with a coach or anything but the player.

  9. I'd like to add some new comments, however a cut and paste job for every 1st class match we have played this season would suffice!

  10. I agree with Gary's observation. How is it that our recognised batsmen get out cheaply, and our lower order score runs. It makes no sense. So why? Is it players disillusioned? Is it dressing room stuff? I've not got a clue. What I know is that when our much vaunted top four of 2019 are a shadow of what they achieved then.

  11. On the plus side we made it to the last day for a change
