Derbyshire V Gloucestershire day 2

In short...Derbyshire will be battling to avoid defeat against Gloucestershire today.

Dont say I didn't warn you, but Chris Dent, a player who could solve England's issues, and the outstanding Ryan Higgins both scored centuries to take the game away from us.

At 396-7 Gloucestershire are 196 ahead and could stretch that, lead still further before our second innings.

Not looking good, is it?

  1. Yesterday made for difficult watching as a Derbyshire fan. The hope was that Ravi or Luis might make early in-roads bit it wasn't to be. Hammond played and missed a few times but scored freely and Dent was immovable and has probably won the game for this team. He was dropped at slip a couple of times, once just before tea, which may have helped reduce the arrears, otherwise he applied himself admirably well and wold surely be frame for an England spot were he at Surrey, where everyone is given an international cap regardless of suitability for Test cricket. Higgins looks a very good cricketer indeed, and is only 24. He was so busy at the crease, pinching singles and putting away any loose balls. Without Palladino, no-one was able to stem the flow of runs, although Alex Hughes again did a decent job. When du Plooy was given the ball that was only 10 overs old I had to wonder what the plan was. Logan is just too expensive.
Gloucestershire's bowling attack looks strong so it will require a massive effort to resist today and tomorrow.
