Lancashire V Derbyshire preview

Derbyshire's squad is unchanged for tomorrow's massive RLODC match against Lancashire at Old Trafford.

There may be some thought of recalling Sam Conners, though Anuj Dal may retain his place because of his fielding, as well as his other options.

Lancashire have lost the services of Glenn Maxwell, who has joined up with the Australian squad. He is replaced by Jake Lehmann, son of former Yorkshire favourite, Darren

Their squad:

Dane Vilas (c)
James Anderson
Josh Bohannon
Steven Croft
Brooke Guest
Haseeb Hameed
Liam Hurt
Keaton Jennings
Rob Jones
Jake Lehmann
Saqib Mahmood
Graham Onions
Matt Parkinson
Stephen Parry

We will have to contend with one of the best seam attacks in the country, but this Derbyshire side is playing positive, fearless cricket. While the squad is down to its bare bones, those in it are good cricketers, capable of holding their own against anyone.

They have shown that already, this season and I expect us to do the same tomorrow.

Like the rest of you, I wish them all well.

In our current form, we could win this.

I agree they are a tidy attack, but they still went for 417 at Trent Bridge, so certainly not untameable if we apply ourselves.

  2. We need to remember that no matter who is bowling, as soon as the ball is released, it's just a ball like any other.

Play the ball guys, not the reputations.

  3. Pathetically amateurish performance.Drop Godleman for again running out his fellow opener and then proceeding to bat poorly. A shambles and this side deserves nothing.

    1. Seriously? Drop the bloke who scored 400 runs in the first four matches?
Some way from a shambles, Mal. They batted badly at the top of the order for the first time this year!

  4. Poor batting at the top of the order in crunch matches has been a regular occurrence for Derbyshire in the last few seasons, irrespective of the format of the game..An inconsistent middle order only exacerbates the problem. The inability to find the boundary regularly once again proved to be our undoing.
In white ball cricket we struggle to succeed against anyone , other than the counties who occupy lower positions than ourselves in the County Championship .
