Had it been yesterday or today (given we have no first team game on Sunday)it would have presented an ideal opportunity to play some of our out of form players. Mind you, when it comes to scheduling cricket matches i,ve given up,period.

I agree Mr Welch has some serious thinking to do before 11/5. It isn,t just about the possibility of making changes, there has to be some frank discussion with those who remain in the team from Worcester. Not everyone,s place is under threat but few players have managed to hit anything like top form and that has to change.

There is something not right. Too many runs conceded, sloppy fielding, suicidal batting, dropped catches etc. At times it almost seems as if we are merely going through the motions. I half wonder if having been in the top flight,we may have psychologically underestimated the task of returning there.

In sport, good habits don,t come easily but bad ones do. One thing is for certain;if we don,t get our act together quickly, the Championship season could easily turn into the sort of struggle we have endured in the past. Not a happy thought but the danger signs are present.

Welch has to get these players firing on all cylinders and the next few days could be the most important of the season. Two more games in and the die could be cast for the rest of the season. If we are going to turn this round,it has to start now. No more excuses and no more feeling sorry for ourselves.Marcnoreply@blogger.com
